Have been trying to get it to fire up for a couple days. I ran it dry last season before storing it and then it seemed like it would not suck any fuel up. The primer bulb was full and wouldn’t push down. Tried to push too hard and the bulb split..

Kinja'd!!!

Just kept cranking it until I knew fuel was in it because it was pouring out of the exhaust. All but gave up assuming the ethanol monster got it but decided to grab a can of carb cleaner a couple shots in the carb later and it fired right up and is running strong as ever. My arm hurts.

Can you replace the bulb? Seems like a fire hazard to leave it cracked.

Yes I believe so. I think the 2 Phillip heads on the sides let it pop right off. All I’m finding so far is whole carb kits. I’m assuming the bulb is practically universal. Have a lawn care place nearby that i fill my propane tanks at. I’ll check if they have one that fits. Cant be much the whole carb is $15-22. Maybe I can pick one up for under a buck.

Any of the 26cc bubbles should work.. Mine is a Homelite, but the Ryobi is the same.

I have one that a renter let sit for over 7 years. Maybe I’ll try your trick. Pretty sure it had gas in it, and it evaporated eventually. I’m sure the bulb is dry rotted. Home depot used to sell a universal primer bulb, and fuel line kit for about $5. I’ve been using an electric one for the last 2 years. My only complaint is the string reel has to be manually opened to dispense more string. I spend more time fiddling with it than trimming each time.

Funny you mention. Definitely spent more time screwing with the line today than anything else. The line in it a little too heavy duty and sat all winter so it hardened up. Anyway I felt the neighbors were watching eating popcorn as I was probably pretty entertaining between the “it started” dance then holding it out to the sky redlined yelling carb cleaner followed by me trying to pull string every 2 minutes...
